Flower Fields in Los Angeles: Mustard Flowers
Season: Late winter to early spring (February to April)
The mustard flowers are prevalent here in Malibu. They’re an invasive species, so I have no qualms trampling them in order to get the perfect shot. You can find these delicate blooms all over the Santa Monica Mountain range. They literally grow right off the side of the road on PCH. You can get some stunning shots among the mustard fields with the ocean in the background.

Flower Fields near Los Angeles: Almond Blossoms
Season: Late winter to early spring (February to March)
Almond Blossoms are such delicate, beautiful, unpredictable little flowers. The flowers bloom first down in Bakersfield and continue into March the farther you venture up north.
All of the almond orchards are private property in Bakersfield, so please be aware of No Trespassing signs and stick to the outskirts of the fields. The flowers, while beautiful, are the farmers livelihood, so please be respectful while visiting these stunning orchards.
Flower Fields in Los Angeles: Cherry Blossoms
Season: Late winter to early spring (March)
Cherry Blossom trees can be found all over LA County, you just have to know where to go! Cherry blossoms bloom around the same time as the Almond Blossoms, and they only bloom for a short time.
Please note that locations such as Descanso Gardens, and any Botanic Garden, requires a $300 permit in order to do photoshoots on their grounds.

Season: Spring (March to May)
California's state flower, the vibrant orange poppy, carpets hillsides and meadows, creating a STUNNING sight.
Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, located about 78 miles north of Malibu, CA, transforms into a sea of orange during peak bloom. Also, areas around Lancaster and Palmdale boast stunning poppy displays. You can even find poppies along the side of the freeway as you’re driving around.
Poppies last only as long as there’s cool weather. As soon as California starts to heat up, the poppies die off.
Please be respectful when visiting these beautiful flowers. They are delicate and you should take every precaution to avoid trampling them.
