A Beautiful Beach and Mountain Maternity Session | Malibu, CA

This session was one I had on my wish list for years! Malibu is unique in that it has both the mountains and the beach as location options within it’s city limits.
The mom really wanted the beach and the sun for her maternity pictures, however, Malibu’s overcast skies threw a wrench in our plans. Originally we were just going to have our session at El Matador State Beach, but the sky never cleared up. I texted the mom that morning and asked her if she would be interested in doing two locations since it was sunny just over the mountains. She agreed!
We met around 4pm at El Matador. It was high tide but beautiful, and thanks to the overcast skies and high-tide, there wasn’t a ton of people! After we photographed mom in two outfits, we jumped in the car and drove 25 minutes to our second location, Malibu Creek State Park, where I was pleasantly surprised to find a gorgeous field of yellow mustard and these purple, lavender-like flowers!
To end the session, we walked to the top of the hill and took photos as the sun set behind the gorgeous mountains.
